Reserving a wedding date

Which dates are available for weddings?
The wedding season runs from 01st May to 31st October, each year. Currently, we are taking reservations for the 2009, and 2010 season.
Is our preferred date available for a wedding?
Please use our online date checker to check availability for your preferred wedding date.
Can we reserve a wedding date for 2011, or beyond?
Please let us know if you have a date in mind for 2011, or beyond. We will gladly pencil your name within the wedding diary and offer you first refusal when we begin taking reservations.
How do we reserve our wedding date?
Contact us to check availability for your preferred date. Once agreed and confirmed, payment of the basic wedding price will secure the date for you.
How long does it take to secure a wedding date?
It only takes a maximum of 3 days to agree and confirm a wedding date.
What happens if our circumstances change and we need to change our wedding date or time?
Let us know your new preferred time and date. We will check the wedding calendar and provide the most suitable alternatives for you. We do not charge admin fees for time and date changes.

Pricing and payments

When do we pay for our wedding?
The basic wedding price is paid when securing your wedding date. Payment for the wedding options is not required until your arrival in Kefalonia.
When do we pay for the wedding options?
None of the items from our list of wedding options (flowers, photographer, reception meals etc) require payment in advance. Therefore, payment for wedding options is not required until around the time of your wedding date, and after your arrival in Kefalonia.
Do you offer a price promise?
Yes, we guarantee the basic wedding price. Even if local Government fees or taxes increase, the 'wedding price' quoted at the time of your booking will be the price you pay.
How often is the wedding option price list updated?
Each year, around March/April, the list of wedding options is updated. To reflect changes we also amend the list in real time throughout the year. Wedding couples are not committed to any of the wedding options. We strive to ensure that our wedding options list offers quality of service and value for money.
How do you accept payment?
The basic wedding price can be paid online. We use Paypal as our preferred online merchant. PayPal is secure, is recognised worldwide, and accepts payment from all major credit and debit cards.
What is your cancellation policy for weddings?
We offer a customer-friendly cancellation policy and an initial 'cooling off' period. After securing your wedding date and paying the 'wedding price' we allow you a 14 day 'cooling off' period. During this 14 day period, if you cancel your booking we will refund all monies paid. After the 14 day 'cooling off' period a tiered refund policy is then applied to cancellation requests: a 50 percent refund when a cancellation request is made and there are at least 180 days remaining before your original wedding date; a 25 percent refund when a cancellation request is made and there are at least 90 days remaining before your original wedding date. Cancellation dates are outlined within our confirmation email which is sent to you after securing your wedding date.
What additional costs should we consider?
You'll want to budget for flights and accommodation. The wedding couple will need to allow for the cost to obtain the necessary legal documentation; prepared in the couple's country of residence prior to arriving in Kefalonia.

General questions

How much time will we have at the wedding venue and will we be rushed?
St. Christopher's chapel is a wonderful venue for both civil and religious wedding ceremonies. You'll enjoy a unique experience and a wonderful occasion. You'll have bags of time to enjoy the occasion to the full; receive congratulations from family and friends, sip Champagne and snap some magical photos. There will not be another wedding couple waiting in the wings and you'll be free to savour the wedding moment.
How can we make the most of the wedding venue?
A top idea is to select the option to have celebratory Champagne, drinks, juices and perhaps mini buffet snacks served outside the chapel at the conclusion of the ceremony and during the taking of photographs.
I would like you to organise my wedding in Kefalonia. Do i have to book my accommodation at Mouikis Hotel or Mouikis Village?
No, you may reserve your accommodation with any of the hotels, villas and apartments on the island. However, you may be interested to know that we offer a room discount to the bride and groom when staying at Mouikis Village and Mouikis Hotel.
After arriving in Kefalonia, who will look after our wedding arrangements?
Thanasis Mouikis is one of the owners of Mouikis SA (Mouikis Hotel and Mouikis Village) and a principle member of the wedding team. Thanasis is responsible for overseeing your wedding arrangements, both before and after your arrival on the island. Thanasis will also be in attendance during your wedding ceremony, as overseer.

Civil weddings

Where does the civil ceremony take place?
The wedding ceremony takes place beneath the steps of St. Christopher's chapel in Lakithra. St. Christopher's is our privately owned chapel. Because of its high vantage point it offers magnificent views of both land and sea. The legal signing of documentation is completed at the nearby Town Hall of Livathos; this can be done the day before, same day, or the day after your wedding.
Which days of the week are available for civil weddings in Kefalonia?
Civil weddings may take place during and weekday between 10:00am and 2:00pm, or 6:00pm and 7:00pm.
How many days must we be in Kefalonia before we can marry?
You need to be in Kefalonia for a period of eight days prior to your wedding. Please let us know your arrival and departure dates so that we can inform you of suitable dates.
Is the civil wedding ceremony presented in English or Greek?
The civil wedding ceremony is presented in Greek and then in English.

Catholic weddings

Where does the Catholic ceremony take place?
You may choose to have the ceremony inside St. Christopher's chapel or, if preferred, on the steps of the chapel facing the sea. St. Christopher's is our privately owned chapel. Because of its high vantage point it offers magnificent views of both land and sea. The decision to host the wedding inside or outside is yours and can be decided after your arrival in Kefalonia.
Which days are available for Catholic weddings in Kefalonia?
Catholic weddings may take place during Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:00am and 7:30pm.
Who conducts the wedding ceremony?
Father Severino Trentin performs the Catholic weddings.
Does the Catholic wedding include full Mass?
Yes, it's actually a full Mass that incorporates a wedding service. The Catholic wedding service lasts approx one hour from start to finish.

St. Christopher's chapel and Mouikis Village

Whereabouts is St. Christopher's chapel and how close is it to the reception venue of Mouikis Village?
The chapel is located on the outskirts of Lakithra, a very quaint village and desirable neighborhood. Lakithra is approx. 7kms from the resort of Lassi and the island's capital, Argostoli. The chapel has a private and secluded location within the grounds of our studios and apartments at The Mouikis Village. Mouikis Village is an ideal venue for wedding receptions and, like the chapel, it offers panoramic views of the Ionian Sea - quite magnificent.
